Karen Roxana Ancheta, 35, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident after she was struck by a vehicle on the 10 Freeway, early morning on August 21, 2011. According to a news report in the Daily Breeze, the fatal crash occurred on the freeway just west of Azusa Avenue.
California Highway Patrol officials say Ancheta was westbound in a gray Ford Focus when she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the concrete center median. She got out of her car, which was blocking the far left lane, and stood next to it. At that time, a Ford Explorer SUV driven by 24-year-old Rene Espinal struck the rear of Ancheta's vehicle and then veered to the left. The SUV struck Ancheta, throwing her onto the center median. She died at the scene. An investigation is ongoing.
I offer my deepest condolences to the family members and friends of Karen Roxana Ancheta for their tragic and heartbreaking loss. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
